Windows 11 still reserves the letters A and B for a device that is no longer installed in production computers. The author of the
article tried to make the system address an SSD as drive A: and get the message “Insert disk into device A:”. In total, Windows 11 has 26 letters allocated for drives, but the first two are not given to SSDs. This is more of a fun experiment than a practical guide. It shows that old Windows conventions haven’t gone anywhere.
